Managing commercial agency relationships across multiple European jurisdictions.
When a business relies on commercial agents in several countries, managing those relationships requires an understanding of the specific legal framework applicable in each market.
In this matter, a Dutch-based organiser of international sports tournaments required advice on its relationships with commercial agents operating in Italy, France and Belgium.
The project was led by Tessa de Mönnink (the Netherlands), working in close cooperation with Marco Venturello (Italy), Nicolas Genty (France) and Sandrine Kinart (Belgium). Together, they provided coordinated advice covering the different national rules applicable to the client’s agency relationships.
By bringing the relevant jurisdictions into a single coordinated approach, the client was able to address its commercial agency matters consistently while taking account of the legal requirements of each country.
This project illustrates one of the core strengths of the Distribution Law Network: enabling businesses operating across Europe to access specialised local advice through a coordinated international team.
